ABOUT  US

Who We Are

Support to Children, Inc. (SUTCHI) is a non-profit organization established in 2010 to support HIV/AIDS orphans and children with special needs in Uganda. In USA, Support to Children is registered as a 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization. SUTCHI currently supports over 3000 children and their families and communities. SUTCHI strives to help orphans and vulnerable children achieve economic self-sustainability through psychotherapy, education, basic health care, vocational training and advocacy. Throughout all our activities we inspire and motivate the increased participation of children in programs that target them.

Where We Work

Currently, we work in 5 districts: Rakai, Kampala, Wakiso, Kyenjojo and Masaka. In Kampala, capital of Uganda, a growing metropolis that is overpopulated, we mainly focus on the street children and those children in poor slum dwellings. In the rural districts of Kyenjojo and Rakai, our focus is on extremely poor households infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. To-date, over 20,000 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) have been supported and graduated, through education, health or economic strengthening activities.

What We Do

We work to empower vulnerable children with knowledge and information through support to their health and education. We provide school fees and scholastic materials for orphans and children with special needs. We work with other organizations and institutions to fight childhood poverty, abuse, neglect and malnutrition.

Suppot to

Children

We are excited to unvail our new and improved website. We have enriched it with new content about the activities that we do for HIV/AIDS orphans and children with special needs.
In addition to the previous projects, namely; support to education, the mosquito nets drive, small capital incentives, the gifts drive and the pig project we have expanded and started a number of projects including the child rights advocacy in recognition that most challenges children face result from violation of their rights by the adults taking care of them. We now target a special group of children and those are the children with disability. We realized that children with disabilities particularly in Uganda are so vulnerable to abuse, more likely to live in poverty, few of them go to school and majority hidden away from the public eye. We have designed special program to address these challenges.

OUR SERVICES

Education Support

Many children particularly HIV/AIDS orphans are unable to remain or continue in school. When the bread winner dies they are left to fend for themselves.

Child Rights Advocacy

SUTCHI works to ensure that all children access their rights to survival, development, protection and participation. Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world.

Prevention of HIV/AIDS

We are currently working with Makerere Joint AIDS Project (MJAP) to scale up community referrals and linkages to increase access and uptake of comprehensive HIV/AIDS.

Small Capital Incentives

Also among our activities is provision of small capital incentives to organized groups of orphans’ families especially women who traditionally shoulder most of the burden in looking after orphans.
