ABOUT  US

Who We Are

Support to Children, Inc. (SUTCHI) is a non-profit organization established in 2010 to support HIV/AIDS orphans and children with special needs in Uganda. In USA, Support to Children is registered as a 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization. SUTCHI currently supports over 3000 children and their families and communities.

Where We Work

Currently, we work in 5 districts: Rakai, Kampala, Wakiso, Kyenjojo and Masaka. In Kampala, capital of Uganda, a growing metropolis that is overpopulated, we mainly focus on the street children and those children in poor slum dwellings. In the rural districts of Kyenjojo and Rakai, our focus is on extremely poor households infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

What We Do

We work to empower vulnerable children with knowledge and information through support to their health and education. We provide school fees and scholastic materials for orphans and children with special needs. We work with other organizations and institutions to fight childhood poverty, abuse, neglect and malnutrition.

TOGETHER WE`VE CHANGED THE LIVES OF OVER 20,000 VULNERABLE CHILDREN

Fighting

HIV/AIDS

Since 2017 we have partnered with Baylor College of Medicine Children's Foundation, in the Rwenzori region to reduce the number of future orphans due to HIV/AIDS. Through this partnership, we have made great strides in controlling mother-to-child HIV infections, bringing back lost clients into care, and improving HIV/AIDS suppression levels among clients. Similarly, in conjunction with Makerere Joint AIDS Program (MJAP), we are scaling up community referrals and linkages to increase access and uptake of comprehensive HIV/AIDS clients, OVC and survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), in Kampala; we have, in conjunction with health facilities, screened and provided targeted HIV/AIDS testing services to the community, provided referrals for the positive subjects to begin ART (Anti-Retroviral Therapy?), referred males for circumcision, pregnant women for antenatal care, and encouraged male involvement in HIV Testing Services (HTS) in general.

OUR  SERVICES

Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention

We are implementing focused, high-impact prevention; targeted HIV testing; treatment and retention in care; anti-discriminatory programs; and an unwavering commitment to respecting, protecting and promoting human rights and gender equality.

Support to Children with disabilities

Children with special needs are in particularly dire straits. They face the twin challenges of poverty and disability given the nature of their impairments. Children with special needs are less likely

Education

Many children, particularly HIV/AIDS orphans are unable to remain or continue in school. When the bread winner dies, they are left to fend for themselves. Some are left in the care of relatives who are struggling to keep their own immediate families .

Small Capital Incentives

Thanks to microloans from philanthropists like you, women who once lived on the margin of survival now own successful small businesses—running grocery shops, sewing, creating handcrafts, recycling bottles and papercrafts, bee keeping etc.

Child Rights Advocacy

SUTCHI works to ensure that all children access their rights to survival, development, protection and participation. Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world, with many people struggling to survive and provide the necessities for their families.

Gifts Drive

Do you have shoes, clothes, toys or books that you no longer need? These could make a lot of difference in a child’s life in Uganda. We donate used shoes, clothes and toys to children that can make very good use of them.
